Cricket legend to be honoured in new street name
2:00pm Monday 19th August 2013 in News
NEW home owners will be living in a street named in honour of an Essex and England cricket legend.
Mr Bailey, who died in a house fire in 2011, aged 87, was an right-handed all-rounder who played for the county between 1946 and 1967 and appeared regularly at the Castle Park ground.
Another road in the development, by Knights, will be named Henry Swan Way.
Sir Bob said: “I am grateful to my colleague Martin Hunt, and Colchester Council, for agreeing to have a cricket theme for the naming of the two new roads.”
Sportsway, which runs between Leisure World and Castle Park, will also be renamed Pavilion View.
