A FAMILY enjoying the summer sun were shocked when they spotted this pink grasshopper.
Pippa Miller was sitting on the sea wall at Point Clear, close to their home in Western Promenade, when she noticed the brightly-coloured bug.
The colour is caused by the grasshopper’s genetics but rather than a mutation is simply at the extreme end of the colour range grasshoppers can be.
Pink grasshoppers often do not live very long as they can be quite conspicuous to predators.
