ST Helena Hospice has announced it is postponing tomorrow's Pier to Pier Walk due to the poor weather conditions.
In a brief statement on Twitter the charity confirmed its decision to call-off the walk, between Clacton and Walton piers, as it is a fun, family event and it does not want anyone missing out because of the weather.
Marketing manager Holly Smart added: "We have had some people saying they still want to walk and we appreciate people are frustrated, but we have not made this decision lightly and we have to put everyone's safety first.
"Some people have said they are still intending to walk, but I must stressed they will not be covered by our insurance if they do so - and I would urge them to be careful.
"We will be in touch as soon as possible with a new date and will keep everyone up-to-date."
