Northern Approach Road bus lane D-day approaches

CONSTRUCTION of a long-awaited bus lane running alongside Colchester’s Northern Approach Road could start this year.

The board of the South East local enterprise partnership will on Friday decide whether Essex County Council should be loaned £4.5 million for the two-lane busway.

Members will be given three options - the first two of which will see the authority definitely awarded the cash, while the third will leave it competing with other projects for funding.

See Thursday's Gazette for more.

Unless they sort out the bottle neck at North Station (the bridge under the railway), it's pointless. That's what causes the congestion...

If they built a wider bridge, it would make no difference, as they would build more houses or 'rabbit hutches'.

Just wait what we will see next is two of the four lanes under North Station Bridge will be designated bus lanes only which will create even more congestion around this bottleneck

just thinking out loud here,
if motor cycles/scooters are allowed on current bus lanes within colchester now, will they also be allowed on this new northern approach road.

I saw a vintage film about Colchester this evening from the East Anglian Film Archive. Filmed in the 60's, it stated that traffic around Colchester was a major problem. What has the CBC been doing all this time?

Who gives a toss? Only paupers ride the bus.
