NEW safety proposals for a notorious stretch of the A120 in Tendring are just weeks away, highways bosses have vowed.
Representatives from the Highways Agency, county and district councils, emergency services and MP Bernard Jenkin held talks this morning over the accident blackspot which has claimed three lives in recent years near Great Bromley.
They met to discuss a safety audit which was carried out following changes in road layouts made last year.
The changes were carried out at the Harwich Road junction and at Pellen’s Corner, but local residents and councillors claimed they only made the situation worse.
The report found the number where people injured along that section of the A120 over the past 11 months was much higher than the national average.
Now highways bosses have promised to come up with proposals on how to improve safety.
Eric Cooper, of the Highways Agency, said: “We will take away all the views expressed and come back within a week or so with a way forward.
"We need to look at what can be done now and also work on a longer term solution.”
Harwich and North Essex MP Bernard Jenkin has also promised to meet the government minister to discuss the issue following the meeting today.

The accidents occur due to bad drivers. It isn't the M25. A little patience is all that is needed to get across this staggered crossroad. I can see the complainers forcing a no right turn on the majority that can drive safely.
