WITCHES were brought to life for pupils by a historian from Essex University.

Youngsters at Millfields Primary School learnt about the Witchfinder General as part of a series on Heroes and Villains.

Dr Alison Rowlands, head of the university’s history department, told them about England’s largest ever witch-hunt between 1645-7 and pupils got involved in the class by drawing pictures of witches, writing poems and doing role-play.
