In today's Gazette: A 14-year-old girl was hospitalised after taking a legal high.
The Stanway School student became ill after taking a herbal mixture sold over the counter of a Colchester shiop.
* A man was repeatedly stabbed in the head, chest and legs at a house in Colchester.
Police and paramedics were called to Monkwick Avenue to find the 41-year-old with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to Colchester General Hospital.
* Items belonging to Antartic explorer Capt Lawrence Oates are going up for auction in Colchester.
Oates, who lived in Gestingthorpe, near Halstead, famously sacrificed himself during Scott's expedition to the South Pole saying "I am just going outside and may be some time".
* A pensioner was left lying on a cold pavement for more than an hour waiting for an ambulance after suffering a suspected broken leg.
A paramedic in a rapid response car arrived at North Hill, Colchester, within 20 minutes but then had to wait for a ambulance to arrive to take the casualty to hospital.
