TARDY library members have racked up thousands of pounds in late fees in just two months, figures have revealed.

Fines for unreturned books, dvds and cds are already up to more than £1,500 in Colchester library in 2013.

The Trinity Square centre is the worst for late fees in the borough, racking up more than £10,542 fees last year.

There have been 612 reported thefts from the library throughout January and February.

It's not Andre, that's just the ones they know about.

The sign your own out system has never worked from day one and is a licence for druggies and down and outs to help themselves, costing us £1000's.

Another silly headline. The library is not the offender, it is the users who steal books or return them late.
And of course it happens more at the central library, it is a lot bigger than all the others.

Please, let us not trivialise this article.There are many books held at Central library that are paramount to the history of Colchester.
