In today's Gazette: Thug bites off man's ear lobe

In today's Gazette: A man had part of his ear bitten off in a savage attack in Colchester.

The 20-year-old victim needed emergency surgery after the violent attack in Colchester High Street. Taxi drivers and security staff rushed to help the man and one of them found the severed piece of ear lobe.

* Three people were hurt after a head-on crash.

Fire crews, paramedics and police all rushed to the scene of the accident in Brightlingsea Road, Wivenhoe. The driver of one of the cars was said to be in a critical condition.

* Daft dad Simon Bellotti stunned his family with a practical joke on Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway TV show.

Millions of viewers saw Simon, from Tiptree, apparently living a superstar's life as he performed with X Factor winners Little Mix and was interviewed by Jonathan Ross.

* A man has been jailed for six years for stabbing a father and son.

Grant O'Neill attacked Michael Merritt, 48, in the leg and Steve Merritt, 22, suffered a punctured lung.
