Police search for lingerie shop thief Police search for lingerie shop thief

POLICE are searching for a lingerie shop thief who went in for a present and left with a phone.

Officers released a CCTV image of a man suspected of stealing a member of staff’s iPhone from Boutique 65 in Crouch Street, Colchester.

The suspect told staff he wanted a gift for his mother but is believed to instead have taken a phone from a chair.

The incident happened at about 3.40pm on Sunday, December 16, but details have only just been released after attempts by officers to find him failed.

PC Amanda Cook said: “The man was about 5ft 6in tall and of slight build.
“He had black slightly wavy hair and slight stubble.

“He is thought to have an eastern European accent. We believe that the man drove away in a gold-coloured car which was possibly a BMW.”

Anyone who knows who the man call PC Cook at Colchester police station on 101.

He'll probably only get a suspenders sentence.

Seems unbelievable that the staff member left his/her iphone on a chair for anyone to help themselves to. Why don't people take more care of their posh mobiles?

Opportunistic theft. People make it too easy, leaving phones lying around, bags unguarded. It takes literally seconds to take something. Got to keep valuable stuff with you. Can´t get too paranoid about it, but people need to be more aware of how quickly a theft can happen.

Would also be helpful if photos like these are put out straight away. The Gazette often carries CCTV images from weeks or months ago, but surely it makes sense to get these pics out there next day, when things are fresh in people´s minds.
