In today's Gazette: A restaurant boss says he is disgusted after burglars stole thousands of pounds in a break-in.
The raiders snatched a safe, ripped open a till and grabbed two computers from the Old Siege House in East Street, Colchester.
* Pop star Beyonce was almost the main attraction at Maldon Carnival - if it hadn't have been for her £50,000 appearance fee.
Organisers invited a host of A list celebrities to attend the event in August including Britney Spears, Will.i.am, Jessie J and Justin Timberlake but Beyonce, who is appearing at the V Festival, was the only one to show an interest.
* A family has received an apology from a hospital - six years after it failed to diagnose a man's condition quickly enough.
Simon Brind, 51, had two screws inserted into his spine at Colchester General Hospital which perforated his aorta and caused two litres of blood to leak into his abdomen. His widow, Ann, and his family have received an out-of-court settlement.
* A jury has seen dramatic CCTV from the evening shots were fired at TP's sports bar in Colchester.
The trial heard a witness saw the barrel of a shotgun sticking out of a car as it passed the club in Queen Street.
