SCHOOLS could win up to £1,000 of sports equipment in an exciting competition.

The Gazette has teamed up with Sportsafe UK to offer three schools top prizes.

Sportsafe UK, based in Colchester, is offering equipment worth £1,000 to the school which collects the most tokens printed in the Gazette, with £750 for the runner-up and £250 for the third place.

Even if your school does not win, Sportsafe UK is also offering one free PE equipment health and safety service for every school which takes part.

Gazette promotions manager Tanya Rees said: “We are delighted to have teamed up with Sportsafe UK to offer these fantastic prizes to schools in our area.

“We hope everyone from mums and dads, nans and granddads, to friends and neighbours all pitch in to help their school collect the most tokens.

“If your school has not already signed up to take part then it’s not too late to give us a ring and enter for a chance to win top-notch sports equipment.”

Schools need to collect tokens printed daily in the Gazette from Monday February 25 until Friday March 15.

Each school has a collection box for pupils to drop in their tokens. Tokens should not be sent to the Gazette.

The three schools with the most tokens will win the sports equipment, and to make the competition fair to smaller schools tokens will be counted in proportion to the size of the school.

Tokens will then be counted from Monday March 25. Usual Newsquest terms and conditions apply.

  • More than 20 primary schools have already signed up to the competition but it is not too late to join in. If you would like to get your school involved contact Alison Griffiths on 01206 508335 or email alison.griffiths@nqe.com.
