POLICE are stepping up patrols after vandals launched an unknown object at a newsagents.

Foleys in Gravel Hill Way, Dovercourt, suffered more than £200 of damage to its glass door after the attack on Monday, February 18, at around 1.45am.

The owner saw three youths running away towards Abbot Road.

The damage comes a week after raiders stole scratch cards and a till containing a three-figure sum of cash from the shop.

Burglars broke in just before 5.30am on Tuesday, February 12, after forcing the front door.

Harwich Pc Sarah Latchford said: "We will be paying extra attention to the area and we will prosecute anyone found responsible."
