Distress flares spark RNLI search

LIFEBOAT volunteers and a rescue helicopter scoured the River Orwell after reports of distress flares in the sky.

Harwich RNLI was called to search the waters near Ipswich’s Orwell bridge at 5.20pm on Friday, February 15.

But despite a search with help from the RAF Wattisham rescue helicopter nothing untoward found.

If the call was to the Orwell bridge why did they search the Stour, no wonder they found nothing.
