New Chief Constable chosen for Essex Police New Chief Constable chosen for Essex Police

METROPOLITAN police officer Stephen Kavanagh is set to be the new chief constable for Essex.
 

Police and crime commissioner Nick Alston has named the current deputy assistant commissioner in the Met as his choice to take over from current chief constable Jim Barker-McCardle in May.
 

The choice will now have to rubber stamped by the police and crime panel for Essex.

Rubber stamp? I thought that they could veto the decision if they have a two thirds majority?

Give him two years. He will make the cuts then move on to the Home Office. Its a well trodden path.

Seeing as London is exporting its criminals to this part of Essex, it is only fair that the police bring in someone who knows them.

Good to see a proper Essex Boy in charge. But he doesn't look as though he'll be taking prisoners!!
