Summer roll out for Superfast mobile signal
6:00pm Thursday 7th February 2013 in News
A SUPERFAST mobile network is set to be rolled out in Colchester by the summer.
EE’s 4G signal, which offers fibre broadband and mobile speeds which can be up to five times faster than standard 3G service, will be available in the town by June.
Colchester is one of 27 across the country, including Basildon, which are set to benefit.
At the moment, EE covers 45 per cent of the UK, but after the summer roll out, it will taken in 55 per cent.
Olaf Swantee, Chief Executive of EE, said: “We’re set to cover more than half of the UK population by summer, staying ahead of the schedule that we set for ourselves at launch.
"We are continuing to demonstrate the amazing value of 4G mobile to many organisations with different challenges and different needs.”

This will be great when someone steps in and stops EE from holding a monopoly on 4G networks, as the high prices and low data caps currently enforced make it kind of pointless, and maybe some competition would force operators to offer a better value service.
