Tenant returns to find garden wall demolished Tenant returns to find garden wall demolished

A MOTHER returned from work to find her garden wall demolished.

Stephanie Reubins, 26, discovered the damage to her rented home in Gavin Way, Colchester, on Tuesday.

The wall was intact when she left for work at 11am but the brick work had been smashed down and metal fence bent out of shape four hours later.

Anyone with any information should call Colchester police on 101.

I've just contacted Sherlock Holmes and he said that after analysing all the evidence the wall may have suffered and impact from one of those new fangled motor vehicles.

Either that or a cardboard rocketship!

I'm with Fnagster there. It looks as if something hit it. Silly place to put a wall.

The photo shows that the wall has not been demolished, only dilapidated.
Hardly worth a story in the paper, though.

Will her landlord believe she didn't do it?

I suspect the reason the item is most read, is that nobody can believe they are going to come across a mere knocking down of the corner of a wall, fairly obviously by a motor vehicle.
.
We all though there was something massive, maybe a high grade bombing or air attack by the Taleban!
.
The wall is not exactly demolished. I admit it is a big nuisance to the owner of the property, but a common occurrence in these days of sloppy and careless driving, and of course the perpetrator is not going to hang around if they can help it.
.
We will next get the response that a child or animal could be hurt if the wall falls. Well, let the Landlord get on with clearing it up fast. They should be insured, especially with a let property. Maybe it's already been cleared?

the issue was that the children play on front garden and it could have happened while they were there...
later found out that it was a lorry driver,. he could have knocked on the door and explained but instead drove off.. there is schools be here and a child could have been on the pavement. the wall was badly damaged.. demolised is a very strong word that shouldnt have been used.
the tenant was worried that the person may have been injured that hit the wall.. but instead it was an inconsiderate person who left the wall dangerously unstable and it could have fallen on children walling past...
it was later taken down to stop any further accidents and will be replaced as soon as physically possible,

All that aside, it's still a non-news story.
