Special educational needs review launched

VIEWS are wanted for the future of special educational needs services in Essex.

The county council has launched a discussion about the priorities for the future.

Parents, carers and education providers are all invited to take part in the 12 week consultation and answer a questionnaire.

A specially designed web page was launched today with three different questionnaires. A separate electronic questionnaire using pictures and audio is also available to use in gathering views from children and young people with special educational needs.

Scoot says...

Tim Coulson the head of the LEA said in a letter last year that one of his priorities was building on analyses and discussions to push forward with a refreshed SEN strategy. He has also commented that 2-3 years is a vast chunk of a childs education. We now have this 12 week consultation which by the time it has been analysed and dicussed will probably take us into next year, almost 2 years after the letter !. So much for SEN being a priority !!
