In today's Gazette: A mum has thanked hospital staff who saved her life twice after she suffered pregnancy complications.
Danielle Murphy, 29, was 16 weeks pregnant when she needed two life-saving operations at Colchester General Hospital. She lost her unborn child but said: "If it wasn't for me being treated at that hospital, I don't think I would be here."
* A scooter-mad granny believes she may be the oldest Mod in the country.
Maureen Lear, who is 70 next month, has been riding Vespas since passing her test in 1961 - and she has no plans to stop now.
* Shotgun killer Darren Jewell has challenged his conviction at the Court of Appeal.
Jewell, 37, of John Street, Brightlingsea, gunned down his workmate, roofer Anthony Prickett in St Osyth in 2011. Jewell had denied murder but was convicted and jailed for life.
* Grassroots Conservatives have warned lifelong members are considering tearing up their membership cards over the party's support of gay marriages.
