Bus firm passes vehicle check

A BUS company criticised by parents for its school service has passed a vehicle inspection.

However Cedric Coaches has been warned it needs to make considerable efforts to restore the confidence of parents.

Parents had expressed concern after a number of alleged incidents involving the Ardleigh-based company’s school service to the Colne Community College, Brightlingsea.

Essex County Council, which awards contracts for school services, called in the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) to do an unannounced spot-check on the bus company. All vehicles and licences were found to be in order during the visit on Friday January 11.

Cedric Coaches declined to comment.

unfortunately restoring confidence is one of the hardest things to do. No matter what the vehicle inspectors say Cedric Coaches are unlikely to satisfy those who distrust their service.

I think the biggest problem here is the result is long after the original complaints. It was so long ago when all this started you would expect them to get their act together by now?

And would you believe it, this morning I watched a Cedric's driver reading text messages on her mobile phone approaching a roundabout.

Safety indeed...

I wouldn't have thought the issue was with vehicle safety. More to do with the apparent lack of safety awareness their drivers seems to adopt. I rung Cedrics a few months ago as they park at the end of my road for their tea breaks (well the driver actually sleeps!!!), he parks on the corner of a blind bend so cars have to go round him on the wrong side of the road into oncoming cars which cannot see them. Cedrics did not give a monkeys when I rung to raise this concern. I think that sums them up.
