North Essex surgeries to close on Thursday afternoon

GP practices across Colchester and Tendring are to close whilst staff receive training this week.
Surgeries will close from 12:30pm-6:30pm on Thursday when staff take part in a professional development session.
Local out of hours provider, Harmoni, will provide cover for the closed surgeries.
Richard Gray, of North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “It is very important that GPs and their staff stay up to date with the latest developments in service changes and training.”
North Colchester Healthcare Centre in Turner Road will remain open on Thursday.

The Public Sector rarely consider customers (although I don't even think the general public are considered customers by anyone in the public sector!).
And, Harmoni, the out of hours provider, is unlikely to cover every surgery in North Essex.
No self respecting private business would close completely for a "Training Day". Had the health authority given some thought to planning the training then it could be done in stages or outside of normal hours with less disruption to customers/patients.
