Thousands of police officer posts cut

POLICE officer numbers are at their lowest for more than a decade.

More than 4,000 officer posts have been lost in the past 12 months.

It means there are now about 132,000 officers in England and Wales.

Numbers in Essex will down by at least 350 by next year.

Essex Police has to cut costs by £42million by 2015.
