A DRIVER who knocked down a pedestrian near Highwoods Square is being sought by police.

A 50-year-old man from Dovercourt was walking in the Tesco car park when he collided with a blue hatchback car being driven by an older woman.

It happened at about 12.20pm on Wednesday.

The driver stopped when the man was knocked down to check on him and he said he was fine.

However he later reported the incident to police and suffered bruising in the collision.

PC Richard March said: "I would like the woman involved to contact me.

"The woman has not committed any offences but I need to complete a report and would ask her to call me at Stanway response and patrol unit."

If you were the driver, or know the driver, please call the unit on 101.
