Two crashes near A120 accident blackspot
TWO women had to be cut out of cars in two separate crashes on the A120.
It is believed a car was hit at around 8am after turning left from Harwich Road and being hit by a car coming from Harwich. They hit the central reservation and the eastbound carriageway was closed for nearly four hours.
One person was trapped and firefighters attended the scene to release them, and did so by about 9.10am.
Two people were taken to Colchester General Hospital with minor injuries. A third escaped without injury.
The road was closed at the junction with the A133 causing delays to drivers.
During the closure a car and lorry crashed just before the A133 junction.
Two fire engines from Colchester and one from Wivenhoe rushed to the accident to release a woman trapped at around 10.30am.
There were five different ambulance vehicles at the scene.
She was released by about 11.30am.
All roads were opened at 11.45am.
Bernard Jenkin MP visited the site this morning to speak to police. He is urging the Highways Agency to implement new measures to improve safety at the Hare Green and Pellens Corner junctions.
