DRUGS with a street value of £13.4m were found in a lorry load of soft drinks at Harwich Port.

Border Force officers uncovered the load of cocaine and amphetamines at 6am on Tuesday January 29 when they searched a lorry that had arrived at Harwich on a boat from the Hook of Holland.

Inside the lorry they found around 35kg of cocaine and around 160kg of amphetamines.

A 44-year-old Dutch man has been charged with illegally importing a Class A drug.

He appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Thursday January 30 and has been remanded in custody until February 21 for a further court hearing.
