A SCHOOL is celebrating after winning a major funding boost.
St Helena School in Colchester was one of 950 applicants bidding for cash from the Government’s Academies Capital Maintenance Fund.
The schools’ bids, which totalled £150 million, were competing for a cashpot of £40 million with a maximum allocation of £250,000.
And St Helena School, which has nearly 1,000 students, was delighted after winning the top amount.
The money will be spent on replacing outdated windows and doors at the site in Sheepen Road.
