In today's Gazette: Residents in Colchester who do their bit for the environment could be rewarded with Nectar points.
Colchester Council has already said it will penalised residents who do not recycle but it is also looking at ways to reward people who go green with various reward schemes.
* A baby has defied the odds after being born 17 weeks premature.
KelsieHemmings, 23, said it was not thought Lacey-Jane would last more than an hour after she was delivered but she is now home in Harwich and is doing well.
* Colchester Carnival will be an animal-themed spectacular this summer, organisers have said.
Members oF Colchester Round Table and Colchester Ladies Circle are organising the event which will take place in Colchester High Street and Castle Park on July 20.
* Police surrounded Colchester to catch drivers commiting motoring offences.
Officers, along with experts from the DVLA, British Transport Police, HM Revenue and Customs and the Department for Works and Pensions, seized seven vehicles, while 66 drivers were stopped for not wearing seat belts, 24 for using a mobile phone and 32 vehicles were found to have expired MoTs.
