A FAMILY have paid tribute to their loved one who died following a crash on the A12.

Steve Bint, 59, from Colchester, was driving along the A12 on Sunday, at about 7pm, when his Ford Mondeo left the road and crashed into a tree.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, following the crash on the northbound carriageway between Kelvedon and Marks Tey.

A 57-year-old woman was trapped and seriously injured.

She was cut free and rushed to Colchester General Hospital.

His wife Sue, on behalf of the family, said: "Steve was an amazing person and a dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him."
