Train trouble hits commuters again

COMMUTERS have been hit by delays on train services for the third time this week.

Some trains between London Liverpool Street and Ipswich have been cancelled or delayed this morning.

Rail operator Greater Anglia has said the problems are down to poor weather conditions.

Travellers were severely delayed on Thursday while there was also disruption on the network on Monday.

No snow last night. Average seasonal temperature. Whats going to happen when the weather really gets bad.

Anglia great eastern (or what ever they call themselves these days) are just plain incompetent.

Snow kicking in during the day. Really glad I don´t commute to London, because it could be a long journey home. I´m lucky enough to be able to walk home if all else fails.

The problem is that the rail line to London is at pretty much full capacity in rush hour, and one problem with a train or signal can cause knock-on effects for hours.

I think Greater Anglia's problem is they've read a weather forecast and followed the predictions blindly, subsequently lots of unnecessary cancellations considering it's quite a nice day outside.

Questions should be asked as to 1. Whether they had the staff to cover the trains (or weren't they willing to come out in the cold like their passegers) and 2. Did they actually have trains that could work or are the withdrawn trains all 'dodgy'.

No doubt as soon as the temperatures get above 10 degrees they'll withdraw trains because they could damage the electric cables.
