Plans for housing estate on former garden centre

DEVELOPERS want to turn a former garden centre into a housing estate.

Plans have been submitted to build up to 18 homes on the former site of Notcutts Garden Centre.

Owner Notcutts Limited, which closed the centre, in Station Road, Ardleigh, in 2005, has lodged the plans with Tendring District Council.

It wants to build 12 three-bedroom houses and six four-bedroom homes on the site, which is about the size of two football pitches and sits alongside the rail line.

Notcutts at Ardleigh used to be easily the bext garden centre in the Colchester area. A great pity that it closed.
