Cash-In-Hand staff warn of fake Facebook account Cash-In-Hand staff warn of fake Facebook account

A PAWNBROKER has warned of a fake Facebook account trading under its name.

The spoof site pretends to belong to Cash-In-Hand, which has shop branches in Queen Street Colchester, and New Street, Braintree.

It has been advertising iPhones and Xboxes, taking payment by PayPal but never sending out the goods.

Branch manager, Kevin Fisher, has warned customers to be vigilant after receiving complaints from seven people conned by the scam.

The firm’s genuine Facebook site can be found at facebook.com/colchester.cashinhand

Quite laughable really considering the high percentge they charge on pawned items. No better than a pay day loan company.

From the cash in hand website:

"Message of the day:

Like most hustles and scams, the thing to watch for is something that seems too good to be true. There are endless scams which play on people thinking they´re getting a bargain, but alarm bells should ring if anything is cheaper than it should realistically be.

Sometimes it pays to be a little bit cynical and do a few checks before patring with your money.

Anyone buying goods on line needs to check very carefully the authenticity of the seller.
