Economics student's Uganda project

AN Economics student aims to use her skills to help children in the poverty-striken country of Uganda.

Former Colchester Royal Grammar School pupil Genevieve Hampson is currently studing at Cambridge University.

But come the summer, she will be heading to Uganda to work with the charity Education Partnerships Africa.

She will spend ten weeks working with a rural secondary school, looking at how to invest in the school in the most beneficial and sustainable way.
However, she first has to raise at least £2,300 and is appealing for sponsors.

A cake sale at Holmwood House and money raised at a New Year’s Eve party have boosted the coffers which now stand at £850.

Further activities are planned Geneieve appealed to anyone wanting to support her challenge to go to mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/genevievehampson.

"AN Economics student aims to use her skills to help children in the poverty-striken country of Uganda."

Maybe the Grammar school could send an English student to the Gazette office and teach Wendy how to spell striken .
