SHOCKING extra details about a brutal town centre assault on an innocent woman have been released.

A woman was knocked to the ground and repeatedly beaten during an attempted robbery in St Peter’s Street, Colchester, at about 7.45pm on Saturday night.

Det Con Tim Harris, who has been tasked with finding the thugs responsible, said: “This was a lone female attacked near her home.

“She was attacked from behind with a weapon used to repeatedly beat her and she was left with dramatic injuries.

“The injuries will fade but the emotional effect of this will take much longer to get over."

The first suspect is white, aged about 17 or 18-years-old and was wearing a dark blue hooded top.

He is about 5ft 9ins tall and thin.

The second suspect, who struck her with the wood, had darker skin and is aged between 17 and 20-years-old.

He had a slight build and was dressed all in black.

Police are hoping to speak to any witnesses or anyone with information on this unprovoked attack to get justice for the victim and catch those responsible before they strike again.

Anyone with information call Det Con Tim Harris at Colchester police station on 101.
