AN England football legend is coming to Colchester to speak to fans and raise money for a cancer charity.

Sir Trevor Brooking played for West Ham more than 630 times, scoring 102 goals, and also turned out for his country 47 times.

He will be answering questions on his football career, which spanned almost 20 years, as well as raising money for the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, set up by the late BBC sport presenter.

The former midfielder is a vice-patron of the charity.

He said: “I am really looking forward to talking about some of my career highlights with other football fans who share my lifelong passion for the game.

“I hope that this event will raise a lot of money for Helen’s charity which continues to support so many local cancer patients and their families.”

An Evening with Sir Trevor Brooking will take place at the Weston Homes Community Stadium from 7.15pm on Friday, February 1.

Tickets for the event, which includes a three-course dinner and live music, are available priced £50 on 08456 80 20 47 or by clicking on helenrollason.org.uk.
