Drunk man stranded by tide

RESCUERS went to the aid of a drunk man who became cut off by the tide at Mersea.
The man had wandered off the coast at West Mersea and become strandedwhen the tide came in.
Mersea coastguards were dispatched to help the man at just past midnight on Saturday.
A spokesman for Thames Coastguard said: "The man was located and was helped back to shore."
