READERS of all tastes will be able to enjoy this year’s Essex Book Festival.

The annual event, now in its 12th year, is supported by Essex University and opens in March, with celebrated authors making appearances at about 60 events across the county.

The university’s first event takes place on March 3, with a writers’ workshop at the Lakeside Theatre, led by Colchester-based playwright Nicola Werenoskwa.

On March 5, in Firstsite, in Colchester High Street, Dr James Canton will track the paths of historic figures who ventured into Essex, including William Shakespeare, John Clare and HG Wells.

Writer and performer, Sandi Toksvig will also be speaking about her new war novel, Valentine Grey, at the Colchester campus, on March 7, while Michelin star chef Atul Kochhar will be showcasing his book of over 100 curry recipes at Wivenhoe House, at the Colchester university campus on March 18.
