Police hunt for thieves who stole a car and crashed it in Colchester

First published in News

POLICE are hunting for suspects who stole a car and other items before crashing and abandoning it later.

Burglars broke into a home on Sutton Park Avenue, Colchester, overnight between New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

They stole a silver Toshiba laptop and iPod along with car keys to a silver Volkswagen Sharan which they drove away in.

At about 5am a man was spotted loading two mountain bikes, one yellow and one black, into the car, before driving off.

The car was then found abandoned in Alexandra Road on New Year's Day with signs it had been involved in a crash after being stolen.

A white man, aged in his mid 20s, was seen loading the mountain bikes into the car.

Anyone with information on the burglary, who has been offered similar items for sale, or sightings of the car is asked to contact Det Con Hannah Richardson, at Colchester Police Station on 101.
