POLICE have renewed an appeal for information after a serious assault at a Colchester bar left a man with a triple fracture to his jaw.

Officers were called to Silk Road for one of 17 incidents around the town centre on New Year’s Eve.

They included serious assaults in North Hill, Crouch Street and High Street.
But the most serious was in Silk Road on St Botolph’s Street.

During the early hours of New Year’s Day a 25-year-old man was attacked so badly he spent two days in hospital.

Det Con Eva Woods said: “The victim was at the bar with friends for New Year’s Eve when he was assaulted at the rear of the premises near the fire escape.

"A person believed to have been involved in the assault is thought to have been among a group of people who were ejected from the bar by the door staff.

"One of those ejected was a white man, in his mid 20s, with short dark brown hair and tattoos on both arms.

“He was wearing a white T-shirt. We would like to talk to him in connection with this investigation.”

Anyone with information should contact Det Con Woods at Colchester CID on 101.
