In today's Gazette: Hunt for knife in Jay murder probe

In today's Gazette: Police hunting for the knife used to kill teenager Jay Whiston have been searching near Colchester's Hythe train station.

Officers from the British Transport Police yesterday scoured the area in the hopes of finding the crucial evidence.

* A driver has warned fellow motorists about the dangers of flooding on back roads after a lucky escape.

Russell Cutmore, 45, skieed on surface water on the B1022 Maldon Road between Tiptree and Colchester. His Vauxhall Vectra rolled at least once and ended up in a field nearby.

* An eleventh hour deal has been struck over access to Colchester's former clock museum.

Colchester Council has reached an agreement with the landlord of the Art Cafe in Trinity Street to officially get access to Tymperley's. Talks will now be held to progress hopes of opening a tea rooms there.

* A teenager arrested on suspicion of rape has been bailed. The 16-year-old was arrested after a girl was attacked in an alley between Alton Park Road and Blenheim Road, Clacton, on New Year's Eve.
