Essex Uni professor gets New Year gong

AN ACADEMIC from Essex University has been recognised in the New Year’s Honours List.

Professor Dawn Ades, from the Philosophy and Art History School has received a CBE for services to higher education and art history.

Joining the then Department of Art History and Theory in 1968, she pioneered research and teaching of art from Latin America which later led to the creation of the Essex Collection of Art from Latin America, the only public collection dedicated to art from the region in Europe.
