Roman ruins to go on display as part of new restaurant

ROMAN ruins will become the centre piece of a new restaurant.

Arches that surrounded the Temple of Claudius are buried next to Colchester’s Castle Park.

A developer wants to build flats, a shop and restaurant at 97 High Street, and will put the Roman remains on display.

Sounds good hope it works. Though this is a resubmitted plan from 2006.

The picture in the Gazette didn't look very encouraging so I hope that the planners make sure that it will look right for the area. I welcome any possibility for displaying our Roman heritage to the visiting public. This is indeed a hugely important part of our Roman town.
