Train driver spots drifting boat

LIFEBOAT crews were called to help a sailor after a train driver spotted his boat drifting along the River Colne.

Clacton RNLI was called to the 20ft vessel after the driver spotted it between Wivenhoe and the Hythe at 10.50am yesterday.

The boat, which had run out of fuel with one person on board, was towed to Hythe quay where it was met by Clacton Coastguard.

I hope the boat owner has made a large donation to the RNLI.
