THE weather challenges faced by Tiptree jam-makers Wilkin & Sons this season were highlighted on television.
The early drought in 2012 was followed by late frosts and then seemingly never-ending rain.
The result was a bumper rhubarb crop but a disappointing haul of the firm’s famous Little Scarlet strawberries and major frost damage to some quince orchards.
Farm director Chris Newenham spoke to weather forecaster and presenter Julie Reigner for the BBC1 East show Wild Weather in 2012, screened at 5.30pm on Sunday.
