Driverless car smashes into lamppost
A CAR without a driver smashed into a lamppost after the handbrake came loose.
The silver Vauxhall Astra was parked at the top of North Hill, Colchester, when it began rolling.
It miraculously missed pedestrians heading to the High Street sales and other parked cars at 9.15am on Thursday.

When will people learn to put their car in gear when parking on a hill?
Looking at the picture of this, it looks to be incredibly lucky this lamp-post is where it is, or that car would have been off down the hill. Could have been far worse. I hope the driver will learn the lesson for next time.

This man was aged 50-plus, and told me he never left his car in gear, as the handbrake was sufficient. I hope he has learned his lesson.
