A MUM with multiple sclerosis has been left humiliated after garage workers would not let her use a nearby toilet for an emergency.
Lisa Scrimshaw, 34, has progressive MS, which means at times she is unable to control her bladder and is prone to sudden bouts of needing to go to the toilet.
But when the problem hit at Sainsbury’s petrol station, in Tollgate, staff there said she would not be allowed to use their toilet because of staff safety policies.
As a result, she was left to wet herself in the middle of the store.
“You cannot imagine the humiliation and embarrassment it has caused me,” said Mrs Scrimshaw, of Mitchell Avenue, in Halstead.
“I was begging and pleading with them to help me and let me use their toilet but they just said the toilets were for staff only because of their safety policies.
A Sainsbury's spokeswoman said: "We are extremely sorry.
"This should not have happened and we are investigating the matter with the store.
"We are taking steps to ensure that this never happens again to any of our customers.”
