Youth group plays Santa in Tiptree

YOUNGSTERS celebrated Christmas with care home residents by presenting each of them a festive gift box.

Members of Tiptree Youth Club visited elderly people in Orchard Lodge, in Station Road, Tiptree, on Saturday.

Nine members of the club presented the 25 residents with the hampers, made from shoe boxes, made up of products from Wilkin & Sons and other companies in the village.

Sarah Bays, youth club secretary, said: “The old people were absolutely over the moon.

“They knew we were coming but they didn’t know why and they thought it was wonderful.

“We came away thinking ‘we have really made some people happy at Christmas’.”

The hampers were paid for through contributions from about 50 club members.
