Mersea park plans cash boost Mersea park plans cash boost

PLANS to create a new public park on Mersea have received a cash boost.

The proposals are in the early stages but around £50,000 worth of funding has already been won, with a further £160,000 applied for.

West Mersea Town Council want to convert four adjoining fields, off Barfield Road, into a 12-acre park.

The latest windfall saw organisers handed more than £8,000 from the Big Society Fund to kick off the project.
