A teenager has been arrested after a man was attacked.

Police were called at about 3am today to Trinity Street, Halstead.

A man believed to be aged 26 was taken to Colchester Hospital with a head injury, which was not thought to be life threatening.

The ambulance service said he was conscious and breathing when paramedics arrived.

Another man suffered a bloody nose but did not need hospital treatment.

Police arrested a 16-year-old boy at an address in Halstead just before 5am.

He was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and has been bailed until January 27.

A police cordon was put in place outside Halstead Day Centre in Bridge Street, near the scene of the altercation, during the morning.
