YOUNG football fans can watch their heroes for free thanks to a Colchester plumbing firm.

Colchester United has teamed up with Valcore, which is sponsoring the club’s new First Team Debuts community scheme.

The company, based in Hawkins Road, has paid for hundreds of tickets for fans aged 14 or under to go to the home match against Swindon Town on Saturday, December 29.

More than 200 tickets have already been given out.

Brett Went, Valcore director said: “We are delighted to team up with Colchester United on this fantastic project and we are proud to be the first business to lend our support to the First Team Debuts scheme.

“We hope that Valcore can play a key part in giving young football fans a taste of live football action and, as a result, help our local football club to build a fanbase to be proud of in the future.”

Matt Hudson, U’s spokesman, added: “We have often enjoyed bumper crowds over the festive period, so something like this will help us ensure a great gate for the match against Swindon.

“We hope that plenty of people take advantage of Valcore’s generosity.”
