TIME is running out in a silent auction is raise funds for charity.
The West Mersea branch of the NSPCC held its eighth annual festive fair and raised £2,800 for the organisation which helps vulnerable and abused children.
But organisers Viv Gozzett and Jane Ashmore are hoping to push the figure over the £3,000 mark with the auction of a Christmas tree.
The artificial tree, which was donated by Christmas Spirit, is 6ft tall and is luxuriously decorated with lights, baubles and ribbon. It has a reserve price of £100.
Viv said: “The fair was brilliant, there was a wonderful atmosphere.
“More than 500 people attended and there were more than 40 stalls.
“The event is run by volunteers so every single penny goes to help children in need in Essex and the region. That money is really needed.”
Anyone wanting to bid for the tree can see it on the branch’s website at www.westmersea-nspcc.co.uk and can bid via the website or by emailing ashmorejane@hotmail.com. The auction closes on December 10.
